Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our Labyrinth of Stars quiz! I’ve really enjoyed promoting the world of Maxine Kiss and her ‘Boys’ over this past week and hope that my readers enjoyed it as much as I did. Hopefully I’ve been able to introduce a bunch of new readers to the work of Marjorie M. Liu as well.
Look for more tidbits about Labyrinth of Stars, the Hunter Kiss series, and Marjorie over the next little while. I’ll be posting a review of Labyrinth soon and I still hope to be able to get an interview or guest post from Marjorie after she returns to the States next month.
In the meantime, the winner of the “So You Think You Know Max” quiz is …
Congratulations, Diane! You were the only person to score 100% on the quiz! I’ll be sending you an email shortly. You have the option of an unsigned copy of Labyrinth to be sent next week or an autographed copy to be sent in April once Marjorie has a chance to settle in and unpack after her travels.
Today is release day for Labyrinth of Stars, the fifth book in Marjorie M. Liu’s Hunter Kiss series, and we’re celebrating by giving away a copy of Labyrinth to one lucky Hunter Kiss fan! How do you enter? By taking this little quiz to see just how well you know Maxine Kiss, the kiss-ass protagonist of the series…
The quiz will be available until March 4th and the winner will be chosen based on the highest quiz score. If there are multiple tying high-scores we will turn to Random.org to determine the winner. Winner will have their choice of an Autographed copy of Labyrinth (to be sent in April as Marjorie is currently in Tokyo), or an Unsigned copy (to be sent in March).
Unfortunately due to shipping restrictions this contest is limited to residents of Canada and the United States only.
It’s Friday, Peeps. The school buses were cancelled county wide today and our local weather reports are calling for freezing rain mixed with flurries for the next couple of days. What does that have to do with you? Nothing, really, but it feels like a fine time for a Flash Giveaway!
The very lovely Deidre Knight has provided us with an electronic copy of Parallel Attraction, the first book in her Parallel series, to give away to some lucky readers. Entry details at the end of this post…
Enter New York Times bestselling author Deidre Knight’s time-bending universe of warring worlds, intimate betrayals, and unspent desire with the first installment of her Parallel series. “…humorous…heart-wrenching…compelling…. What a page-turner!” – Gena Showalter, author of The Darkest Craving.
An unexpectedly sensual connection…
Finding a mate is the farthest thing from alien warrior Jared Bennett’s mind. After years of exile on Earth, the king is close to developing a weapon that will alter the fabric of time and hopefully bring peace to his own people. But a chance encounter with scientist Kelsey Wells ignites a scorching desire far more consuming than talks of rebellion.
To Kelsey, Jared’s heritage is exotic and alarming – nothing like the logical, scientific facts of her own world. But despite her fears, she can’t deny the heated response of her body every time the magnetic leader comes near.
A dangerous allure…
As the bond between them grows, Jared struggles with a shocking family secret that keeps him from claiming Kelsey as his own. And a visitor from the future escalates Jared’s battle for his people’s freedom to a fever pitch, forcing the lovers to face one inescapable fact: Time can save them, as much as it can destroy them.
The Parallel series has recently been given an update with new covers and Kindle editions now include updated scenes and bonus material.
To enter simply answer this question: What was the original name of the Parallel series?(Hint: The answer can be found on Deirdre’s site, or on Goodreads)
Fill out the brief Contact form and be sure to copy “Parallel Attraction Flash Giveaway” in the Subject field.
I’ve been posting a few news tidbits on the Paranormal Bites Facebook page lately and I thought that I’d do a brief wrap-up here as well…
Marjorie M. Liu – Labyrinth of Stars, the fifth book in the Hunter Kiss series, releases on February 25th. We will be posting a review and hosting a giveaway to celebrate the release.
Kim Harrison – The Undead Pool, the 12th book in the Hollows series, also releases on February 25th. Stay tuned for the review, coming soon. In the meanwhile, enjoy a free Hollows short story, “Trouble on Reserve”
Darynda Jones - Seventh Grave and No Body, the upcoming Charley Davidson book, will be released in October so we’re getting TWO Charley & Reyes books this year! Darynda has also updated her website and invites everyone to stop by and see her “new digs”.
Peeps, last week I shared a link to Darynda Jones short story, “Shimmer“, on our facebook page. It was a free Christmas gift from Darynda for her readers, and an appropriate one too, since the ending of Fifth Grave Past the Light left the majority of us yelling “No, Darynda, no! How can you do this to us!!?” (Don’t you just love books with endings that leave you yelling at the author’s picture on the jacket?)
Today Darynda offers us another gift to start off our new year on a molten note – “Glow” – it’s “Shimmer” as told from Reyes point of view (#GlowReyesPOV)! I’d advise that you don’t read this until you are alone as it’s just a tad steamy to be reading in company… Then again, maybe you’d like to start your year off with a bang as well as a glow, in which case, be my guest!
Once you get to the end of the story Darynda invites you to share it with your friends and she will enter you into a draw to win an iPad. She provides you with several ideas for sharing to make it easy for everyone. She also has included a link to “Shimmer“, just in case you missed it last week.
It’s the 10th anniversary of Lynsay Sands beloved Argeneau series, Peeps, and she is celebrating with a fantastic contest. Here are the details from her recent newsletter:
A tenth anniversary is supposed to be a celebration of the most notable occurrences in the last ten years… So with that thought in mind we decided to hold our very own “Reader’s Choice Awards” where the readers get to choose their favorite book in the Argeneau series. We’ll tally the results to give us the top ten most popular Argeneau books as chosen by you! And because it’s the 10th anniversary and Lynsay wanted to do something really special for her readers, one grand prize winner will be randomly selected from those that voted. The grand prize winner will have a choice of either a 15-inch Macbook Pro laptop with a gelskin OR a 27-inch iMac desktop computer with a decal of the 10th Anniversary of the Argeneaus.
Sadly Peeps, we’ve had to draw a new winner for the OMENS giveaway. According to Random.org our new winner is DAWN REID. Congratulations, Dawn!
Since FB prohibits pages from contacting contest winners I have to ask you to please forward your mailing address to admin @ paranormalbites . com (without the spaces) or submit it via our Contact Us Page.
You have until 11:59 pm EST on Tuesday, September 17th to claim your prize.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter our OMENS giveaway contest! I know that limiting the entries to Canada and the US also limited the number of entries. This site operates solely on my own dime and the mailing costs associated with contests adds up over time, forcing me to restrict entries on occasion and I’m sorry about that.
We do have a winner to announce however – according to Random.org the winner of this contest is:
The contest ended up being moved to our Facebook page in order to reach more people. Unfortunately Facebook prohibits pages from contacting contest winners directly so Joyce, I need you to email your mailing address to admin @ paranormalbites . com (no spaces) or simply use our handy Contact Us page to submit it. You have until midnight on Tuesday, September 11th to contact us or another winner will be drawn.
Sadly our OMENS giveaway contest last week pretty much bombed. There is no other way to say it. We didn’t get a single entry. It seems like most of our reader interaction comes from the Paranormal Bites Facebook page, the PB Twitter feed, or our Pinterest page. Rather than fight the evitable I’ve decided to run the contest one more time but to hold it on Facebook instead.
The rules of engagement are the same, just the location has changed :
TO ENTER simply leave a comment ON THE FACEBOOK THREAD telling me who your favourite character with latent powers is and what those powers/abilities are. Be sure to mention the author and book/series that the character can be found in ( they don’t necessarily have to be one of Kelley’s characters).
The post has been pinned to the top of the page.
Contest closes at midnight EST Tuesday, September 2nd, and is open to residents of Canada and the U.S.
Today is the official release day for Omens, the first book in Kelley Armstrong’s new Cainsville series, and we’re having a contest to celebrate! Due to a shipping mix-up the fine people at Dutton/Penguin Group accidentally sent me two gorgeous hard cover copies of Omens to review. This is an extremely rare occurrence, let me assure you, so I’m not letting their generosity go to waste! I’m paying it forward by offering my readers a chance to have one of the copies for their very own!
About the book:
Twenty-four-year-old Olivia Taylor Jones has the perfect life. The only daughter of a wealthy, prominent Chicago family, she has an Ivy League education, pursues volunteerism and philanthropy, and is engaged to a handsome young tech firm CEO with political ambitions.
But Olivia’s world is shattered when she learns that she’s adopted. Her real parents? Todd and Pamela Larsen, notorious serial killers serving a life sentence. When the news brings a maelstrom of unwanted publicity to her adopted family and fiancé, Olivia decides to find out the truth about the Larsens.
Olivia ends up in the small town of Cainsville, Illinois, an old and cloistered community that takes a particular interest in both Olivia and her efforts to uncover her birth parents’ past.
Aided by her mother’s former lawyer, Gabriel Walsh, Olivia focuses on the Larsens’ last crime, the one her birth mother swears will prove their innocence. But as she and Gabriel start investigating the case, Olivia finds herself drawing on abilities that have remained hidden since her childhood, gifts that make her both a valuable addition to Cainsville and deeply vulnerable to unknown enemies. Because there are darker secrets behind her new home, and powers lurking in the shadows that have their own plans for her.
Kelley Armstrong’s new series combines enticing elements of mystery, romance, and the paranormal. Headed for bestseller lists. ~ Barnes & Noble

I have another contest coming up next week that will be open internationally so cheer up my far-flung readers – there is something coming for you too!

According to Facebook regulations I am not supposed to contact the winners directly so please, if you see your name listed above, please email me at admin @ paranormalbites . com (no spaces, of course), and let me know which bookmark you’d like to own. Be sure to include your full mailing address.
Please list both your first and second choice, just in case I run out of a certain charm. You may request the ribbon colour of your choice. You may chose any of the charms featured in the contest but please note that the if you chose the Bird it must be substituted by a birdhouse charm (I can send a picture if you want to see it). If you chose the Wing it will be a slightly smaller silver wing than the one originally shown.
To enter the contest all that you have to do is leave a comment on the Facebook posts to tell me which paranormal character(s) the bookmark reminds you of. Please include the character’s name, book title or series that the character appears in, and the author’s name.
Don’t worry about trying to guess who I had in mind when I designed the bookmark, just tell me who it makes you think of. Most of these designs can be attributed to multiple characters.
You may comment on any or all of the 14 posted designs, as many times as you like, just as long as each comment is about a different book character. Each comment counts as one entry.
