The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen . . .
Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.
But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it’s the one that leaves your enemies confused.
And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?

Anyone who has followed Paranormal Bites for a while already knows that Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favourite authors and I absolutely adore her Dark-Hunter series. I love Sherri’s characters so much that I posted a Dark-Hunter, Dream-Hunter, Were-Hunter Character Gallery back in 2009 when this site first went live. Sherrilyn may have different images in her head but the gallery represents how I envision several of the characters.
Sherrilyn’s brother Steven Warchild happens to be a musician and he has paid his own tribute to several of Sherri’s characters by writing a soundtrack to the series. Those of you who will be attending the 24th Annual Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club’s Ball (Wolf Gift Ball) in New Orleans on October 26th are going to be able to see Steven perform several songs from the soundtrack, as he will be accompanying the ball’s Special Guest, Sherrilyn.
Time Untime, the 16th book in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series, will be hitting bookstore shelves on August 7th. Sherrilyn will be touring to promote the book, along with her friend and frequent co-author, Dianna Love, so mark your calendars. Sherri and Dianna will sign books from any series but please check with the store for their signing limitations as they do vary.

The Mayans aren’t the only ones with a 2012 prophecy…
Long before recorded history, there was a Keetoowah warrior so feared that everyone trembled before his wrath. Only a brutal betrayal by the one closest to him could defeat him. But not even death was the end of a man so strong.
The Time Untime approaches…
Kateri Avani has been plagued her entire life with dreams she doesn’t understand. Images of places she’s never been and of a man she’s never seen. Her quest for answers has driven her to Las Vegas where she hopes to finally silence the demons in her mind.
What she never anticipates is coming face to face with the warrior who has haunted her her entire life. One who belongs to a world the scientist in her refuses to believe is real.
Ren Waya came back from the dead to keep the prophecy he began from coming true and ending the world. For thousands of years, he has fought the same evil that once possessed him. But now that evil has found the one person he can’t fight. The one person who, against his will, holds the most sacred part of him.
His heart.
But if he doesn’t kill Kateri, the deadliest of evils will reemerge and destroy everyone else on the planet. It was a sacrifice he made once.
The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters.
Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume…
Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.
He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive and keep a girlfriend so dang hard? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.
And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.
Well I missed sending out best wishes for the past few holidays – Halloween, Thanksgiving (US), Christmas, the beginning of Hanukkah – but I was thinking of all of my readers during these times. The “Fourth Quarter” is a horrible time for those of us bloggers who also happen to work in retail. I happen to work in a book store, which I love, but it is frustrating to be surrounded by the objects of my blogging affection and not be able to interact with my readers for so long. I’ve missed you, Peeps!
Now that the craziness of Christmas and Boxing Day sales are behind me I wanted to take the opportunity to let you all know that yes, I am still alive, and wish you all a very Happy Boxing Day! For those of you who were crazy enough to venture out into retail land today I hope that you were able to find all of the books that Santa may have forgotten to put into your stockings. Me, I’m waiting until tomorrow when the new releases come out, lol.
Santa was pretty good to me though. He gave me The Guardian by Sherrilyn Kenyon, That Old Black Magic by Michelle Rowen, and Immortal Rider by Larissa Ione, among other gifts. What books did he bring to you?
Have you seen Barnes & Noble’s 2011 Holiday Gift Recommendation list yet? It’s full of awesome – Larissa Ione, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J.R. Ward, Lora Leigh, Gena Showalter, Lynsay Sands, Jeaniene Frost, Kerrelyn Sparks, Lynn Viehl, Katie MacAlister, and Christine Feehan all make the cut, among others.
My personal Recommendation List would include the above authors as well as Kresley Cole, Lara Adrian, Laura Wright, Michelle Rowen, Karen Marie Moning, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K. Hamilton, Rachel Caine, Nalini Singh, Maggie Shayne, Marjorie M. Liu, Christina Dodd, and Diana Gabaldon (who I’ve only recently discovered but have fallen madly in love with!). This is just off the top of my head of course and not an exhaustive list by any means. There are so many fantastic authors out there but you can find all of these authors on my personal book shelves and in many cases I have collected complete series of their books.
My Wish List includes the following:
Larissa Ione’s Immortal Rider
Michelle Rowen’s That Old Black Magic
Sherrilyn Kenyon’ The Guardian
Diana Gabaldon’s The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, An Echo in the Bone – all from the Outlander series; and the complete Lord John Grey series
Darynda Jones’ Charley Davidson series
How about you? Which authors/books would make your Recommendation List? Your Wish List?
