Lara Adrian News

Lara announced in her latest newsletter that she has been give the go-ahead to write two more books in her popular Midnight Breed series. Yay!

In addition, she also announced that Darker After Midnight, Chase’s book, will be released in hardcover format, marking a first for the series. No firm release date has been set for the book but eBook versions will release at the same time as the hardcover and it is likely that an audiobook will release simultaneously as well. The paperback version will likely follow approximately six months later.

In the mean time, Lara’s next release will be the 9th book in the series, Deeper Than Midnight, Hunter’s story, which hits the book stores on June 28 2011. Lara will be celebrating the release by participating in the RWA “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing session being held the same day at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

Lara’s next scheduled appearance will take place in August, when she will be attending the Authors After Dark conference in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to Lara for being bumped up to Hardcover status and for getting the series extended. I love it when good things happen to good people!

Authors After Dark Heading to New Orleans

The 2011 Authors After Dark (AAD) convention hasn’t even taken place yet (it is is scheduled for August 11 – 14 in Philadelphia, PA) and we already have details on the 2012 convention, when it moves to New Orleans, LA.

AAD 2012 will have a MAX of 80 authors in this breakdown:

Master of Ceremonies

11 Field Trip authors (Jaye Wells, Diana Rowland, Merrie Destefano, Jeaniene Frost, Larissa Ione, Stephanie Tyler, Eliza Gayle, among other authors who write with New Orleans as a backdrop)

37 Small Press authors (which will be regulated by publisher participation)

30 NY Published authors

“Regulated by publisher participation” means that unlike past years, there won’t be an over-abundance of authors attending from any one publisher. Although many authors have several publishers they will be able to participate under only one.

Even better news? The attendee list has been increased to 400 (80 authors and 320 attendees, including industry).

Authors After Dark 2012 will have a new theme as well – AAD Summer Camp! And where better to have camp but in a reader playground rich in both history and romance – NEW ORLEANS? Yep, AAD 2012 will be held in New Orleans, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon Street, in the heart of the French Quarter.

Everyone will have more time to explore the city with their favorite authors and get some quality time in. There will be tons of stuff to do during the day such as panels, parties and the like, but breakfasts and most nights will be left open, except one. Lunches will be at the hotel during the con panel hours.  There will be tons of field trips with authors that write with Nola as a location, as well as tours to take and pub crawls!

Rooms will be $119 a night DOUBLE OCCUPANCY. Any extra person added to the room is an extra $30 a night per person (up to 4). This is the CHEAPEST you will find a room in the city and you can use the price for three days before and three days after the con, allowing you 9 days in NOLA for hella cheap. That’s right! Plan your vacations now!

Dates? August 8-12 for the event so mark those calendars! Registration isn’t open yet (obviously) but the website will be up soon.

Other authors already accepted:

Mark Henry

Nicole Peeler

Kristen Painter

T J Michaels

Leanna Renee Hieber

Alexandra Ivy

Allison Pang

Jess Haines

Carolyn Crane

Tilly Greene

Cat Johnson

Stella and Audra Price

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Larissa Ione to MC Authors After Dark 2011 Con

AUGUST 11-14th 2011

The Authors After Dark (AAD) event has YOU, the reader in mind, from the authors right down to the price. In these hard economic times, you don’t have to break the bank to attend an amazing event! Authors After Dark is only $130 registration and that includes your meals!

AAD was created for READERS, by authors, to further the reader/author relationship. At AAD, readers engage authors they love in a much more relaxed intimate setting, though events, panels and parties focused on the readers and their love of books.

Also, we are the only romance convention that has a GLBT track and a participating GLBT publisher. Fans of the GLBT genre that attend can look forward to M/M panels, a roundtable discussion and a F/F panel as well as a slew of print books, and goodies from GLBT authors and the publishers,  including MLR Press, Dreamspinner Press, and Torquere Press.

Attendees can also look forward to the inaugural Bookie Awards, the first industry awards nominated and voted for by readers and bloggers alone! And all the presenters will be bloggers, readers and book clubs!

Up to 60 authors will be in attendance including: Larissa Ione (MC), Zoe Archer, Meljean Brook, Leanna Renee Hieber, Bianca D’Arc and many, many more.  See the AAD website for a full listing.

Two costume balls will be held – the Steampunk Ball and the Mythos Masquerade – complete with special guests and a court of attending authors.

Authors After Dark prides itself on giving readers a choice on what they want to participate in. This year we have several awesome mini events and parties as well as fantastic nighttime parties.
