The Mayans aren’t the only ones with a 2012 prophecy…
Long before recorded history, there was a Keetoowah warrior so feared that everyone trembled before his wrath. Only a brutal betrayal by the one closest to him could defeat him. But not even death was the end of a man so strong.
The Time Untime approaches…
Kateri Avani has been plagued her entire life with dreams she doesn’t understand. Images of places she’s never been and of a man she’s never seen. Her quest for answers has driven her to Las Vegas where she hopes to finally silence the demons in her mind.
What she never anticipates is coming face to face with the warrior who has haunted her her entire life. One who belongs to a world the scientist in her refuses to believe is real.
Ren Waya came back from the dead to keep the prophecy he began from coming true and ending the world. For thousands of years, he has fought the same evil that once possessed him. But now that evil has found the one person he can’t fight. The one person who, against his will, holds the most sacred part of him.
His heart.
But if he doesn’t kill Kateri, the deadliest of evils will reemerge and destroy everyone else on the planet. It was a sacrifice he made once.
Sherrilyn Kenyon was interviewed by Romantic Times Web Editor Morgan Doremus at the 2010 New York Comic Con last weekend and she talked about the inspiration behind her Lords of Avalon series, the new Belador series and her upcoming projects for 2011, including Redemption, the 20th book in her Dark-Hunter series.
I was visiting over at Book of Secrets the other day, where Diana is hosting a Halloween contest in which she talks about dressing up for Halloween. She mentioned that while she will probably dress up as a witch this year, she’d really rather dress up as Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter and I thought “That’s brilliant!” I’ve never considered dressing up as Hester Prynne before but now I really want to do that too.
Over the years I’ve dressed as my fair share of generic vampires, witches, and fairies but not too many actual literary characters. I’ve been the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz but no one seemed to realize that I was that scarecrow. I also dressed as Pippi Longstocking one year and that went over much better. Of course I was still a child when I tried out those personas. Last October at K-Con I dressed head to toe in black leather (biker pants, boots, vest) and went to the Dark-Hunter ball as Psyche but once again no one seemed to realize that I was portraying an actual character (mind you, when you’re in a ballroom full of people wearing predominately black clothing it’s a little difficult to stand out). Hester Prynne would definitely be a character who would stand out, at least among people who’ve read the classics.
How about you? Have you ever dressed up as a literary character for Halloween, costume party or convention? Who did you dress as? If you haven’t dressed as a literary character before, who would you like to dress as? Send your photos to admin@paranormalbites.com if you have ‘em (literary characters only) and I’ll post them online. I’ll even run a little contest if I receive enough photos to make it worth while. Be sure to tell me which character you are portraying and which book or series your character can be found in.
Although I wasn’t fortunate enough to attend DragonCon in person this year many of my friends did, including the always entertaining Evyl Eddie Coulter and fellow Menyon BFF Teri Hamilton Garrett. Ed has indulged me with another one of his convention recaps and some photos and Teri provided several photos for Paranormal Bites readers to enjoy as well. Thanks guys! You rock, as usual!

Another DragonCon has come and gone. As usual it feels like it was over way too soon. I swear it feels like it’s over quicker and quicker every year. Here’s some brief coverage of my DragonCon 2010 experience.
My friend Leslie and I arrived Thursday afternoon at the Hyatt. Once we got checked into the hotel we headed to the exhibit hall in the Marriott to meet up with Sherrilyn Kenyon and the rest of the gang to setup the booth. It took no time at all to get the booth up and running. As we were setting up we began to hear about the evil of the registration line. The line was so huge that people were waiting up to 2 to 4 hours in line and when it finally closed for the night at 11PM there was still a line of people around the building. After grabbing dinner the rest of the evening was spent unpacking and reviewing schedules to follow. Afterwards I met up with the always awesome Alethea Kontis and her boyfriend Joe and headed to the green room for drinks then it was off to bed to rest up for the next day. Continue Reading…
