Hey Peeps, I don’t know about you all, but I’m seriously ready to wrap up this contest! What started out with the very best of intentions has turned out to be the contest that just wouldn’t end, lol. The end IS in sight, however, as voting in the final round of the Bites Fights ends Wednesday, June 27th at 12:00 noon EST.
I’ve been posting pictures of some of the prize packs that will be awarded on our Facebook page and I’m including them below in case you somehow missed them (note that this is said very much tongue-in-cheek since we all know just how extensive our reach on FB is these days).
Here is some of the swag that will be included in the Bites Fights Swag prize packs – Midnight Breed drink cozies, pens, bookmarks donated by Lara Adrian; Night Huntress rubber wrist bands and bookmarks donated by Jeaniene Frost; Michelle Rowen postcards and bookmarks; Fever series temporary tattoos from Karen Marie Moning; signed bookmarks from Melissa Marr and Kendare Blake; signed bookplates from Charlaine Harris; tattoo style rub-ons and more!
There are 12 Swag Packs to be won and each pack will contain an assortment of the items shown. Please note that not all items will be included in each pack as the number of each individual item varies but each pack will contain the same number of total items.
Shannon K. Butcher Pack:
Shannon K. Butcher bookmarks, including a handmade glass bookmark that Shannon has donated to go along with a copy of her Bites Fights contending book, Blood Hunt.
Jeaniene Frost Prize Pack:
A signed copy of Eternal Kiss of Darkness, a signed “Life is short. Bite Hard!” bookplate, two bookmarks, and a Mencheres rubber wrist band (reverse says “I like it mindblowing”). Thanks so much to Jeaniene for the contents (as well as the other Night Huntress wrist bands and bookmarks in the Swag Packs)!
Lara Adrian Midnight Breed Prize Pack 1:
Contents include an autographed canvas tote bag, a signed copy of the first Breed book – Kiss of Midnight, a Midnight Breed drink cozy, a pack of eight MB bookmarks, a MB key chain, and a MB pen – all donated by author Lara Adrian.
Lara Adrian Midnight Breed Prize Pack 2:
The second MB pack contains a signed copy of Deeper Than Midnight, eight MB bookmarks, a MB pen, and a Breed drink cozy.
In addition to the two MB prize packs eight additional winners will also receive a set of 8 Breed bookmarks. The Swag Packs mentioned previously also contain Breed bookmarks as well.
Gena Showalter Prize Pack 1:
In addition to the fabulous prize packs that we’ve already shared we have a couple offerings from the uber-awesome Gena Showalter.
Gena Pack One includes the following:
- a signed copy of On the Hunt
- a signed bookplate
- three assorted bookmarks
- a Dating the Undead postcard
Gena Showalter Prize Pack 2:
The second Gena Showalter prize pack being given away in the Bites Fights contains the following:
- a signed copy of Jewel of Atlantis
- a signed bookplate
- a set of three assorted bookmarks
Are these the only prizes to be won? Heck No! These are just the prizes that I have posted on FB so far. More will be posted tomorrow.
While you’re waiting to see pictures of the other prizes make sure that you don’t forget to vote in the final match – http://www.paranormalbites.com/2012/06/25/bites-fights-semi-final-results/
Oh, and if you do happen to see any of the recent postings on FB would you mind terribly clicking on “Share”? I’m hoping to extend the reach of the posts without having to actually pay Mr. Zuckerberg.

Jeaniene Frost is spending the weekend partying in New Orleans at the Memnoch Resurrection Ball and Undead Con (actually she is participating in a panel at the convention so there is a tiny bit of work combined with a whole lot of play, but hey, the lady is entitled to take a break from writing now and then!). While we can’t be with her personally in NOLA, we are definitely with her in spirit and I hope that she has one hell of a good time.
Wenj and I both read Eternal Kiss of Darkness, the second book in Jeaniene’s Night Huntress World series, last week. I have posted her review and I agree with her rating of Mencheres’ story, even if I do disagree with her about Mencheres and Kira being annoying in the beginning when they both try to deny their feelings for each other. It’s a minor point however as I agree with everything else, especially the desire for a deeper look at Mencheres’ past. Hmmm…. Perhaps a certain sexy Egyptian vampire needs a second book? Or at least a background story in an upcoming anthology. Maybe we can persuade Jeaniene to work on this if we all beg and plead real nicely. It’s worth a shot!

Autumn is a busy time for new releases and Paranormal Bites has a couple of guest bloggers lined up who either have new or re-releases of their own hitting the shelves within the upcoming weeks, as well as an interview with Jeaniene Frost.
Maggie Shayne‘s Twilight Hunger (originally released in 2002), the 7th book in the Wings in the Night series, was re-released today with a sexy new cover. Edge of Twilight (originally released in 2005), the 10th book of the same series will be re-released on November 1st 2010, while Blue Twilight (originally released in 2005), the 11th book in the series will be re-released on December 1st 2010.
To celebrate Maggie will be guest blogging and offering a sweet prize pack for one very lucky contest winner. The winner will receive a copy of Wings in the Night, a special 3-in-1 gorgeous oversized trade edition containing the first three books of her Wings in the Night series – Twilight Phantasies, Twilight Memories, and Twilight Illusions. These backlist books are very difficult to find in print, making Wings in the Night a real collector’s edition. In addition, Maggie will include a copy of her July 2010 release Killing Me Softly and a bookmark as well.
Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love are launching a new series on October 19th 2010 with the release of Blood Trinity, the first book of the Belador series. Dianna will be stopping by to guest blog as well and it is possible that she may bring some Belador swag with her as well. This hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet though but I will post an update when the details firm up.
Jeaniene Frost will also be popping in for a little Q & A session about her latest release, Eternal Kiss of Darkness, and maybe, just maybe we’ll be able to get some details about her February 2011 release, This Side of the Grave. We’ll cross our fingers!
Any questions for Maggie, Dianna or Jeaniene? Any particular topics that you would like them to address? Comment on this post or fill out the handy little Contact form and I’ll forward them to the appropriate author.

Yesterday was a great mail day for me. I received the two pretty copies of Eternal Kiss of Darkness that Jeaniene Frost signed (“Life is Short – Bite Hard”) for our Blogmania winners – and I totally wish that I could keep one but I’ll be a good girl and pass them on like I’m supposed to.
I also received Cynthia Eden’s gorgeous I’ll be Slaying You, signed of course, that I won from VampChix. Have you seen the cover of this book? I just wanna lick it (I also can’t wait to read it)!
And lastly, the friendly neighbourhood Purolator man brought me this gem last night -
My copy doesn’t have the fancy bound cover but that’s alright. I can’t wait to read it – I flipped to a random page and the first word that jumped out at me was “panties” so I just know that I’m going to love it!
So, you know what I’ll be reading for the next few days. How about you? What’s on your bedside table or To Be Read list?

Obsidian shadows of the flesh…tattoos with hearts, minds, and dreams. By day, they are my armor. By night, they unwind from my body to take on forms of their own—demons of the flesh, turned into flesh.
For too long Maxine Kiss has felt an inexplicable darkness around her—a force she channels into hunting the demons bent on destroying the human race. But when she finds herself covered in blood and crouched beside her grandfather’s dead body with no memory of what happened or of the man she loves, Maxine begins to fear that the darkness has finally consumed her.
With blood on her hands and her sanity in question, Maxine must face the truth about who she really is and embrace the love of the only man who can help her—before she loses what she cares about most: her family.

An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness…and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she’s only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master Vampire who thought he’d seen it all. Then Kira appears—this fearless, beautiful…human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life, yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose between the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.
Intrigued by the synopsis? Can’t wait until the book hits the stands on July 27th to find out more info on the second book in the Night Huntress World series? Check out Jeaniene’s site and then skip on over to Tynga’s Reviews for an interview with Jeaniene and a chance to win your own copy of Eternal Kiss of Darkness.
