Amazon has posted several Top Book Lists for 2010 already and they listed separate categories for Editor Picks, Customer Picks and eBooks for most lists. Funny how different most of the Editor Picks are from the Customer Picks. I’m not quite sure what one might infer from these differences but I find them interesting just the same. Of course, I haven’t examined every list; just the ones that I believe may be relevant to Paranormal Bites readers – the overall Top 100, Kindle eBooks, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Romance, and Teen. Here are some of my findings (**Note: The entire lists are not reproduced here, just the paranormal titles)…
Top 100 Books – Customer Favorites
3. Mockingjay (Hunger Games Trilogy, Book 3), Suzanne Collins
4. Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10), Charlaine Harris
7. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella (Twilight Saga), Stephenie Meyer
18. The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, Book 1), Rick Riordan
27. Burned (House of Night), P.C. Cast
38. Changes (Dresden Files, Book 12), Jim Butcher
40. Lover Mine: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, J.R. Ward
62. Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 (The Twilight Saga), Stephenie Meyer
66. Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, Book 5), Richelle Mead
100. The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel), Michael Scott
Of these ten books only Charlaine Harris’ Dead in the Family managed to make the Editor’s Pick list, coming in at # 80.
Top 100 Kindle eBooks: Customer Favorites
Mockingjay (Hunger Games Trilogy, Book 3), Suzanne Collins
Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10), Charlaine Harris
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (Twilight Saga), Stephenie Meyer
Wicked Appetite, Janet Evanovich
Burned (House of Night), P.C. Cast
The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, Book 1), Rick Riordan
Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson, Book 5), Patricia Briggs
For some reason the top eBooks were not numerated but the above titles made the cut.
Top 10 Books: Science Fiction & Fantasy – Customer Favorites
1. Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10), Charlaine Harris
3. Changes (Dresden Files, Book 12), Jim Butcher
4. Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson, Book 5), Patricia Briggs
5. Bullet (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 19), Laurell K. Hamilton
6. Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 18), Laurell K. Hamilton
7. Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files, Jim Butcher
8. Black Magic Sanction (Rachel Morgan, Book 8), Kim Harrison
Top 10 Books: Romance – Editor’s Picks
2. Burning Lamp (An Arcane Society Novel), Amanda Quick
3. Pleasure of a Dark Prince (Immortals After Dark, Book 7), Kresley Cole
4. Sin Undone (Demonica, Book 5), Larissa Ione
Top 10 Books: Romance – Customer Picks
2. Lover Mine: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, J.R. Ward
6. Burning Lamp (An Arcane Society Novel), Amanda Quick
7. Dark Peril (Carpathian), Christine Feehan
I don’t know what the heck happened with the Romance category… The Editors were dead on for a change with Kresley Cole and Larissa Ione but I’m shocked that they didn’t make the Customer Picks. And – Hello – Where is Gena Showalter’s Darkest Passion and Darkest Lie??? I totally agree with JR Ward and Christine Feehan making the list but Gena, Kresley and Larissa should definitely be there as well. Amazon obviously didn’t poll PB readers when compiling this list!
Top 10 Books: Teens – Editor’s Picks
5. Fat Vampire: A Never Coming of Age Story, Adam Rex
6. I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies), Pittacus Lore
7. Extraordinary, Nancy Werlin
Top 10 Books: Teens – Customer Picks
1. Mockingjay (Hunger Games Trilogy, Book 3), Suzanne Collins
2. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (Twilight Saga), Stephenie Meyer
3. Burned (House of Night), P.C. Cast
5. Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, Book 5), Richelle Mead
8. Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, Book 1), Cassandra Clare
9. Linger (Wolves of Mercy Falls, Book 2), Maggie Stiefvater
10. The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Shadow Souls, L. J. Smith
